Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) uses plain text commands. Thus, the only tool that is required to write HTML code is a simple text editor. However, especially for the infrequent user of HTML or the keyboard challenged, there are some tools that can help make the construction of HTML documents even easier than typing in the HTML commands. These fall into two general categories: (1) HTML editors, and (2) HTML translators.
HTML can be produced with nothing more than a normal text editor. However, if you are serious about Web development you should consider the purchase of a commercial or shareware HTML editor.
