We have just seen the use of Telnet
to allow
remote logins to computers over networks. Now we look at another very useful
protocol. This one is concerned, not with letting us log into a remote
computer, but with allowing us to transfer files between two different
computers on the Internet. It is named "File Transfer Protocol",
but is usually just called FTP.
We will see how
FTP can be used to fetch files from many
different sources on the Internet.
Click on the "Next" button to learn more about the File Transfer Protocol.
