E-mail, video conferencing, chat rooms, Web page design, Internet safety, curriculum searches - you choose the topic you want to explore, you choose your own pace, you choose the depth of knowledge you desire, and webTeacher guides you through the information. Then, because webTeacher is an interactive guide, you get to put your new knowledge to work immediately through the online exercises and activities. webTeacher can be your own private tutor - or it can be the basis for group instruction. It's up to you! And because the cable television industry and TECH CORPS are providing it to you as an online resource, it's available to you at no charge, 24 hours a day. webTeacher was created by two teachers from Tennessee, Mike and Jo Ann Guidry, and by TECH CORPS WebMaster Wayne Kincaid, who brought together their Internet knowledge and classroom experiences to develop a training tool useful for anyone, but designed specifically for teachers. Through extensive field tests giving teachers hands-on use of the program, the tutorial was refined and enhanced to address those things which would help you to use the Internet in your classroom. webTeacher is presented in two sections, a Web Primer and the full Web Tutorial. The Web Primer is a condensed version which provides introductory lessons for those just getting started. The full Tutorial offers in-depth information that will help you to use the Internet more fully. We invite you to use either or both as they fit your needs.
