Introduction to Browsers
There are many Web browsers presently available. Although they differ in details, most are rather similar to each other, so if you learn to use one it is very easy to figure out how to use another.
Another nice feature
of most Web browsers is that they are very similar in use whether
they are running on a PC, a Macintosh, or a Unix workstation - again, if you
learn to use a browser on one of these "platforms" (as computer people call
different types of computers), it is easy to transfer that knowledge to a
different one.
We will be using the Web browser Internet
Explorer,
version 3.0,
in most of our examples.
Other browsers such as
Netscape Navigator will have
a somewhat different layout than the examples that we show, but they have
similar functions and capabilities.
