This award is given to sites that demonstrate a love of children and dedication to their success. Top 5% in K-12 Education WebTeacher has been selected for inclusion in the Awesome Library, a collection of the top 5% of sites in the field of K-12 education. "Blue Web'n" Award Presented by the San Diego State University Department of Education Technology, the "Blue Web'n" (or Blue Ribbon Web site) recognizes outstanding Internet learning sites. "Inclusion in the Blue Web'n is an honor reserved for the best online lessons, activities, projects, resources, references and tools," says Jodi Reed, a Pacific Bell Education First Fellow at San Diego State University, who notes 22,000 current Blue Web'n Update subscribers. "We are so impressed with your webTeacher that we have placed you in our Starter Kits section, an elite cache of top educational sites for beginning Internet instruction and finest online resources for teachers. And we have reviewed your site for inclusion in our Top of the Month section for September," says Deborah Phelan, director of Millenaire. ( www.millennaire.com ) "Too Cool School House Educational Site of the Week" Presented by the Grosse Point Public Schools, the Too Cool School House Educational Site of the Week identifies top educational Web sites and learning opportunities for teachers and students. "webTeacher provides outstanding tutorials that help educators master the Internet and integrate technology into student learning," says Grace Smith, Technology Coordinator. The award recognizes programs for students and teachers that consistently raise the level of challenge and excellence, offer outstanding resources and information and provide a dynamic, challenging format that leads to innovative, effective instruction. ( www.bbc.co.uk/scotland/education ) "Internet Hot Pick of the Week" When Richland College Library selected webTeacher as its Internet Hot Pick of the Week in June 1999, Reference Librarian John Ferguson said, "of all the Internet and World Wide Web tutorials we've seen so far, webTeacher is the best." Richland College is located in Dallas, Texas. "Associations Advance Tennessee" Award In July 1999, the Tennessee Society of Association Executives presented its excellence award in the public education category to the Tennessee Cable Telecommunications Association. The association offered six daylong webTeacher seminars across the state for more than 160 technology coordinators who are now prepared to train teachers in their school districts on how to use the Internet more effectively in the classroom. Erols' "Site of the Week" When school began in September 1999, webTeacher was first on erols.com's list of suggested back-to-school sites. Recommending the site for its "clear, well-written tutorials," the ISP noted that "if you have never done any research on the Internet, this is an outstanding place to learn all about the Web and how to use it." On December 17, 1999, Erols again selected webTeacher as a site of the week, describing it as "among the best sites we have seen for pulling together what you need to know about the Web into a coherent, step-by-step series of tutorials."
