Como un ejemplo del funcionamiento las listas de correo, enseñamos un mensaje que normalmente se envía con el servicio de Flash Mail de la Revista Computer World. Este mensaje describe una serie de acciones que el receptor puede recibir para cancelar, modificar o enviar sus comentarios sobre el servicio. En cada caso, la acción es iniciada al enviar un mensaje electrónico (e-mail) con una "tirilla" en el área o línea del tema.
